WHY DO WE NEED A STRETCHER LEVELER?

OrelMetallPolymer is a manufacturer of PPGI with steel thickness from 0.2 to 1.1 mm (.007-.043”), aluminum thickness from 0.5 to 1.5 mm (.019-.059”), width up to 1,285 mm (50.59”) with one-sided and two-sided polymer coating based on polyester (PE, up to 50 μm thickness), polyvinylidene fluoride resins (PVDF, up to 50 μm thickness), polyurethane (PUR, up to 60 μm), PVC (plastisol, up to 200 μm) as well as varnishes, including those based on FEVE resins.

Our technologies, competencies, responsible approach to the process of production and selection of suppliers of consumables, availability of a wide range of paints and varnishes of various colors and types (over 100 types of PM are available), flexibility of production and customer orientation of our sales persons provide our customers with the opportunity to receive high quality services in the shortest possible time and on convenient conditions.

Along with regular coatings, we offer textured coatings with different grain sizes, matte or increased gloss coatings, metallic, pearlescent, chameleon, as well as anti-vandal, anti-icing and other special properties.

PPGI is most widely used in the production of sandwich panels, profiled sheets, metal tiles, fencing systems (gates, doors, fences, etc.), facade panels and elements - casts, slopes, cornices, drainage systems, etc. - as well as in the production of household appliances and industrial equipment, including for the agricultural sector, livestock, chemical and food industries.

Therefore, our company pays special attention to our products quality, offering to our customers the products with improved consumer properties, such as low color deviation, both within one batch and from batch to batch, increased resistance to mechanical effects, increased plasticity, higher corrosion resistance, even in aggressive environments, as well as improved UV resistance. Сoating quality, as well as the quality of products made from PPGI, is greatly influenced by strip flatness (Fig. 1). Thus, such defects as edge wave (Fig. 2a), center buckle, deformed edge, camber (Fig. 2b), roll marks and others can cause improper application of polymer coatings leading to reduced quality of PPGI products and even damage to processing equipment.

These defects can occur both during rolling process due to uneven reduction (drawing) of the strip along its width, and during subsequent operations: annealing, galvanizing, edge trimming, packaging, transportation, etc.

Strip leveling is used to reduce the above defects and improve strip flatness. To date, strip stretching methods are considered the most advanced and fully compliant to leveling objectives. At the same time, combination of bending in roller cassettes with stretching – method used in stretch leveling, or tension leveling, machines (Fig. 3)

- has become the most widespread leveling technique since it allows to effectively correct all types of flatness defects: waviness, buckle, camber, as well as remove internal stresses and align mechanical properties. Metal correction in stretch leveling machines is performed by vertical bending of the strip in roller cassettes and stretching it with pulling stations (Fig. 4).

In this case, the strip is smoothed and tensile stresses exceeding the yield strength of the material occur in the zones with insufficient elongation, as a result of which these zones can be lengthened and thereby aligned with other sections of the strip.

That is why we at OrelMetallPolymer have a stretch leveling machine installed in our Coil Coating Line. It allows us to produce high-quality PPGI, reducing the influence of flatness defects in the metal substrate.
